Myocardial Strain Measured by Epicardial Transducers—Comparison Between Velocity Estimators

چکیده

Abstract This study describes results from an experimental ultrasound system with miniature transducers sutured directly onto the epicardial surface and used to measure heart contractions continuously. was find velocity distributions through myocardium. The resulting velocities were track motion of four layers at different depths myocardium regional strain in each layers. Velocities inside vary endocardial borders. Conventional estimators based on Doppler time delay estimation modified better handle these variations. Results tested against a simulation model for echoes moving tissue recordings five animals. We observed that able reproduce myocardial distributions, layer estimate positions both simulated real recordings. most accurate obtained when digitized scanlines upsampled by factor 10 before applying cross-correlation delays. A algorithm allowing linearly throughout duration pulse packet (constant acceleration Doppler) found be capturing rapidly changing compared conventional processing. best using upsamling estimation, but long computation required this method may make it suited laboratory setting. In real-time system, computationally quicker constant preferred.

Myocardial deformation (strain) measured by DENSE reliably detects myocardial scar

Methods By using a 1.5T scanner have 68 patients with a high likelihood of coronary artery disease been included. The following MRI protocol was used: cine SSFP, single slice multiphase Displacement ENcoding with Stimulated Echoes (DENSE) during breath holding, perfusion during adenosine stress and at rest and late gadolinium enhancement. Ejection fraction was calculated from the short axis cin...

Dissociation between epicardial and transmural function during acute myocardial ischemia.

The relationship between epicardial and transmural function (measured with sonomicrometers) was examined in 13 anesthetized open-chest dogs. Systolic wall thickening was used as a standard of integrated transmural function to compare with epicardial function measured as segment shortening parallel to surface fibers. Three levels of coronary inflow restriction were produced by using decrements i...

Myocardial, Perivascular, and Epicardial Fat

Myocardial fat content refers to the storage of triglyceride droplets within cardiomyocytes. In addition, the heart and arteries are surrounded by layers of adipose tissue, exerting vasocrine and paracrine control of the subtending tissues. The rapid development of the field of noninvasive imaging has made it possible to quantify ectopic fat masses and contents with an increasing degree of accu...

Myocardial Infarction Measured by Reflected Ultrasound

Serial measurements of left ventricular posterior wall movement were made in eight patients with acute myocardial infarction by an ultrasound technique. Maximum posterior wall velocity and excursion were decreased during the first 36-hour period after infarction. In two patients a reduction in posterior wall velocity was associated with an increased pulmonary artery pressure and as the pressure...
